RE SE10 or type R alpines?

Hi:

wondering what you guys thought about RE SE10s and alpine Type Rs? 2 10" in sealed enclosure. looking primarily for more punch/dynamics and low end. dont really listen to rap much at all.

I currently have 1 8" elemental audio sub in their recommended ported box and its ok but i'm looking for more "punch/slam" - but not necessarily boom boom.

would 2 10s be it for me or do i need to go with 2 12s ? open to any suggestions at all

also: car is a jetta.sub in trunk.

thanks!

well, 2 10" would have more a punch than 1 8" because of more cone area i believe. the type-r will probably have the "punch" you want. i have had first hand experience with it since my friend has it. but i have also heard good things about the rese10.

Actually everything Ive heard is that the Type R is a lackluster performer in sealed applications. On the other hand, the SE is an exceptional sealed box performer, great sound quality (imo). IMO there's no question which one Id be looking at, and which one I wouldn't.

A friend of mine has 2 12" type R's in a sealed box and they really sound great, and rattle every ounce of his car. I on the other hand have 2 12" type R's in a dual enclosure dual flared port and dual chamber tuned to 35Hz. I am extremely pleased with them. Mine is in the trunk of my car, while my friends is exposed in his jeep cherokee. If you are interested in thsoe 2 12" Type R's, I might be able to cut you a deal on em.

considering the SE is REs SQ driver and ment to go head to head with the W6, i would say that there is no other choice here. as stated above the SE performs very well in a sealed enclusre, leaps and bounds beyound the Type R. and i would have to say that a SE in a ported enclosure would spank a type R ported as well. the build quaity is exalant on the SE driver, and has a very bussiness oriented look to it. stay off the band wagon and go with the SEs

i would take the SE too.

but then again, there are many other drivers on the market that would take the cake above a SE in the upper frequency bands that you are interested in.
