RE SE 15's Sealed

I've finally decided on a pair of these. Everyone says they can take more thatn 600 so i'm gonna start out with 750 and eventually get up to 1000. My question though is wil they take this much power in a box sealed at 3 cubes per chamber. what about 4 cubes per chamber? I'm shooting for highest output to be around 25-30hz..thx for any suggestions. just dont tell me to do ported..//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

just rap really. but not the type you think. I have one of those bass note cd's with each HZ from 15 and up or so. My music falls into the 25-35 range. I never had any music tested to see how many db's it was. I'm trying to make sure i get over 130

Ok, altho you can do that easily ported but its your system.

4 cb's per chamber is pretty big for the se's prolly wanna stay around 3 cb's. They can handle a little more, but just like any other subs. It has to be "clean power" as in good/constant high volts. So I wouldn't go past 750 wrms. If you want more power handling, then get the sx model re's.

haha you shouldnt be worried about that

thx..i'll look into those. I could be mistaken but i think i couldnt find a sealed box requirement for those. actually the site says they dont recommend them sealed.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif i like what i hear about those subs. the FI Q's would be great but i couldnt drive them properly right now with factory alt

i havent had a system that i put time into since like 1996 or so. I had 2 punch 18's in 4 cubers per with 400 watts on each sub and i thought that was the loudest thing i've ever heard and lowest. do you think my new setup would beat that?

not 100% sure cause ive never heard any old school stuff. but my guess would be that it would be louder

The SEs should work well in the 2.5-3cuft each. According to RE minumum is 2cuft and optimum is 2.5cuft. I also agree with the earlier post, 750RMS is about the limit on the SE, and that is clean power with no clipping or distortion. Running sealed is going to give you a much broader response range at a lose of a few dbs. But, i prefer sealed for the wider response range for daily because of the wider and flatter response. And 130db shouldn't be a problem at all with your cone area and power.

how come you are so against ported?
primarily because every system i had i did the box build and sealed is so much easier. meaning money saved instead of having someone else build it. plus, i've always liked how my bass sounds so soft in the large sealed boxes. I'm not a fan of boomy bass at all. thx to all of you for your responses btw.. i do admit however i was hoping they'd do a little more than 750.. but that should be good enough.

2.5 sealed each would be fine with them, but if you got 3 to 3.5 to spare, I would personally go ported.

I feel what your saying though, I use to be just a sealed box guy until I heard a few ported boxes. I remember hearing (2) RF Punch HX2 18s sealed in a wall off about 1200w thinking that was the lowest, loudest thing I had ever heard.

My last box was a single Soundsplinter RL-p 15 ported tuned to 28hz and it was a low end monster. I really miss that setup.

One good thing about the SEs is that they excel either sealed or ported, good choices there.

so how do those punch 18's compare to your rlp 15.. which one was the stongest at the low notes. i considered soundsplinters but i like the low-end specs of the RE better..that but mainley they are a bit more expensive

Hard to say, its been so **** long since I heard those Punches, (over 10 years!)

But, my Soundsplinter tuned low was prob a little louder, esp down low on most of the music I listen too. (screwed rap tracks) However, I listen to alot of R&B and older 80s stuff and it did well with that too, very versitile sub.

I think the SE sealed will work fine for what you want to do. You can always try porting them down the road if its not enough for you.

One thing I do admit, is I miss the "range" sealed boxes have, seem to sound good everywhere, where some ported boxes dont quite hit every note as well. Not that ported doesnt sound good, but alot of guys on here know what im talking about.
