okay today I got done re-doing my whole install and I got done I put the DMM on the amp while playing hard one volume away from clipping and on music my amp was putting out 600 watts and on tones it was putting out 1000 - 1100. anybody know why that is?? I have the arc audio 2500-xxk bridged at 4 ohms running the arc flatline 12" dual 2. also when playing my sub doesn't push out too much but it pushes in while playing. any help is appreciated

Dont bump every 15 mins or so. Its worthless, as for you problem. Test tones are always louder then music and when you listen to music its never the full rms rating of the amp.

try running a + wire from your battery to the - speaker out on your amp then run a - from your battery to the + on your amp and rev the engine to 7000rmp with the bass boos. gain. and volume all the way up

j/k

1) The music you were playing was probably not recorded at 0dB which means that the amp will not be putting out full power.

2) Reading the voltage from the amp will also NOT tell you what power the sub is actually seeing. Your sub will not be running at 4 ohms for all frequencies. It may be at 4 ohms for some frequencies and may rise to over 8 ohms at others. If you're running sealed, it may even jump to 32 ohms or higher!

Don't worry about it though. Keep your gains where they are and leave it alone. You know just enough to **** yourself over and screw something up. Don't let this happen.

Also, get some patience; this is not a chat room and it may take a while to get helpful responses.

and you are mecp certified? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

well if you know the answer big man lets hear it? i figured out the problem today and it wasn't anything i did wrong... it just didn't seem right but it really was and i was stumped cuz i assumed it was wrong. so anyways i wanted some opinions from somebody else.......

So, how do you read clipping with a DMM ? I always thought I needed that expensive thing called an oscilliscope, but MECP must know best.

Most test tones are recorded @ 0db, and music is much lower.
