the amp is 1000x1 at 1ohm

I would still get a 1/0 run from batt to amp and amp to ground, then do the big 3. It isn't hard and will help you anyway so might as well do it. If it isn't clipping and it is still getting hot, I would question the sub.

my boy has an inferred thermometer. next time im at his house i'll see how hot its actually getting.

Run a bigger. Power and ground wire....

Also do the big 3

I'll give it a shot running 1/0ga power wire. Have to wait for the SLOW irs to give me my refund.
