ok so i got my new sub back from warranty cuz i blew the first one. now the first one i hooked up free air in my house and did 5 to 10hz cycles for a total time of 12 hours for break in to play it safe but i over heated the coil and it started rubbing and so i sent it in. now the new one i just put it in the car and listen to it at a lower volume for a few days and now im starting to crank it up meaning close to maxing it out. but i smell the smell just before the other one blew. i have smelt it before with many other subs but have been fine and they did not blow. is there any break in the make it so i wont blow it? i know the smell is from the voice coil hot but when will i be able to crank it to the max and listen to it there for full songs and not blow it? my box is 4 cubes and tuned to about 37hz. a few more hz then what re says but shouldnt hurt it. its not bottoming out or nutin like that but the smell keeps me from crankin it up like i want to. the sub is on a rf t8002 with gain maxed out and i use the bass knob. now i been told that clipping and heat was why the last one blew. any info will help. thanks

ya i dont understand the whole bass know thing. and if i turn my gain down it will not be loud anymore like it is. i would like to have it just under maxing the sub out. if i turn my gain down and dont use my bass remote then i should just take it out cuz i wont have that loud of a setup??? i dont have much voltage drop since i put the extra batt in there. the way i have it now it gets loud as hell but i would like to stay loud as hell without blowing the sub.

use higher frequencies just above box tuning, low freq like 5 to 10 will kill ur sub, the suspension is so stiff brand new and trying to hold the speaker out while the suspension is fighting real hard will over heat ur coil from all motor fighting against spiders. Slowly roll your volume up hour by hour, and if you hear break in noise or smell anything, too far too fast. And don't set ur gains to max lol, its not a volume knob!!!!

you my friend need a better enclosure. for the amp you are running you dont need a 2nd battery. with the small amp you have and the right enclosure you should easily be in the 140db range. it's all in the box....

THE GAIN IS NOT A VOLUME KNOB!!!!!!!

when you are maxing the gain you are most likely sending a clipped signal to the sub. sure it might be louder, but you are damaging the sub. if its not loud enough, then get a bigger amp. that amp is only 800watts @ 2ohm bridged, so to get the most out of it make sure your sub is wired to 2ohms.

You need a bigger amp to produce a higher amplitude in a clean sine wave rather than a small amp maxed out clipping a square wave. The square wave will kill //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

anyone who tells you to not use a bass knob doesnt know how to use one properly
thats what i figured bc im just smart bout the gains. and then i use the knob to turn down and up....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif
