RE Audio MX15 worth rebuilding?

It's the dual 2-ohm version. I guess it bottomed out or maybe something in the trunk got in front of it, but anyway it got a dent right in the middle of the cone. The dent eventually turned into a crack and is now a hole. I tried to patch it, but the air pressure blows off everything I've tried. The VC's have started to burn up due to the lack of cooling. Is this a sub worth sending in to get rebuilt, or should I trash it when it finally dies?

Cone or custcap? if its a dustcap those come off and you can easly patch it from the backside.

If its the cone then take the sub out and patch it from the backside of the cone.

Just recently i had to fix a co workers sub that way. Used a small amount of fiber/resin on the cone itself on the inside.and used a light amount of rubber epoxy on the foam that was torn.

Buy a new cap they can be had for $10-$20

The mx15 is all cone, no dust cap. I had planned on gluing a dust cap over the hole though, since it's right in the center. Too late for that now. Coils are on their last legs. I've never taken a sub apart, much less re-built one. So would it be worth the money having this one re-built, or should I just get new subs?

@double deez, how much do you think i'd be looking at for a D2ohm motor @ ~2500w rms? I have a PA BB.2400.1 pushing.

@silver cookie, not to turn this into a FS thread, but shoot me an offer I can't refuse and I'll ship you the sub while it's still working. I don't even drive the car it's sitting in right now.

Those subs can be pretty $$$ to recone PM splaudio he will give you the low down on them.

i can rebuild but as said above ^ 4" coil parts are alot more expencive. pm me for more info...
