Re audio MX question please help

Ok so I was considering putting a re audio MX in my friends car. I have a few questions though.

The set up is SQ he is not looking to rattle his camaro apart. Right now his current amp would only give the sub 500wrms. If we set the gains correctly will the sub at least sound good or will we not be able to power it at all? He will be getting a different amp in the future but for now I need to know if this will work.

yea, i doubt that sub would move much with only 500watts

that sub is horribly inefficient in my usage with them. Either downgrade subs or upgrade power.
