RE 8's in home theater

i was just curious as to what people thought of when running their re8's in home theater setups....i wanna get 2 more and do it up...run in a ported box...i was told to consturct a box like this... to get the tuning down to 20hz..can anyone help me with how i figure port length and shit like that, box dimensions...appreciate it alot ..thanks

then why the hell didn't he fold it up? anyway, i'd do a folded horn or a TL design if wanting good performance outta a single 8"

ya might as well turn that sucker into a TL at this point, I'm using 2 RE8's in TL's in my room for bass reproduction, they are a little peaky at 50 hz but will play down to 28 HZ fine

the "boxes" is nothing more than a re8 glued to one end of a 5 foot long 8 inch PVC pipe

**** near what you have in that pic, a Transmision line is basically a long tube or labyinth of port with a port that is roughly 1.25-2 times the SD of the driver(at least the same area or more), the tube is tuned to a certain freq like a ported box, basically in laymen terms the tube is long enuf that the rear wave of the speaker isn't 180 degrees out of phase but 90% out of phase when it reaches the end

I was using 4 RE8's in ported boxes in my room and that was good but I didn't like having to use 4 drivers, so I went with two in TL's under the bed

For four of 'em I'd just go with around 3-3.5 cubes tuned to 18-20hz.
