The RD seems to better built IMO.
How educated is your opinion?

What are you basing this claim on? Just because something looks a little bigger? you even know what the components are in the amp and what they do?

my vote goes for sundown. owned a few and hopefully soon will own more. best c.s. i've ever dealt with. have read/been told rd products, and have heard their classic subs, are very nice, but the way they handle themselves online alone makes me to never want to own anything badged rd.

right, just judging from the fact that from the looks of the board, they're probably from the same build house. if im wrong sorry.
same buildhouse was said earlier, I've never personally used or seen the internals of a rd amp, hell the owner of the company was supposed to send me there big boy subwoofer to test 5-6 times now, but apparently he's too busy to worry about internet customers/marketing. On that reason alone I would go with Sundown, but hey most people probably think i'm biased, little do they know that I'm one of the few on this board that use rd products....

Sundowns customer service > RDs customer service. Have delt with Jake a few times an when something went wrong with an amp he helped out a bunch. So jus by the damn sundown an call it a day.

The caps after the power supply transformers are one item that I have specified differently from the "normal" build. The first run of 1500Ds came with 80 volt caps (usually capable of 20% tolerance) - later models come with 100 volt caps.

The voltage across these caps was a bit too high for me to be comfortable with only an 80 volt rated cap... granted, not a single 1500D that I am aware of has every blown a cap. But, hey, better safe than sorry - IMHO.

Have also tooled the new SAZ / SAX heat-sink that adds ALOT more cooling capability. If you buy a brand new 1500D now you will be getting the new style heat-sink.
