RD Audio or Sundown?

The caps after the power supply transformers are one item that I have specified differently from the "normal" build. The first run of 1500Ds came with 80 volt caps (usually capable of 20% tolerance) - later models come with 100 volt caps.
The voltage across these caps was a bit too high for me to be comfortable with only an 80 volt rated cap... granted, not a single 1500D that I am aware of has every blown a cap. But, hey, better safe than sorry - IMHO.

Have also tooled the new SAZ / SAX heat-sink that adds ALOT more cooling capability. If you buy a brand new 1500D now you will be getting the new style heat-sink.

The sundown amp runs cooler is the only fact I can prove, because of there proprietary heatsink. So buy it

Alright, alright. Sheesh. I think the SD won hands down. Biggest reason is because of the great C/S that Jacob provides according to everyone.

Sundown all the way. 2 year transferable warranty. Main difference Jacob follows through on his word. He is a great businessman.

Sundown = amp company

Umm Sundown. All Day. Everything else has been addressed already. Not to mention the fact that Jacob goes over details with a fine tooth comb. Regular testing on them before shipping is done to insure that they are top notch.

If there is ever a problem just contact him and he will take care of the situation.

To this day i have never had 1 single problem out of my Sundowns. Nothing but smiles and Pain here!!!

Differences between the amps:
RD 1750.

SD 1500D

The RD seems to better built IMO.

If you knew so much about the internals of amp, you wouldn't has posted this topic asking opinions. You could post and tell which is better and why.

Now, talking only on the CS part and Company, I'd choose Sundown or RD anyday.

I've seen Steve, owner of RD, lie on different occasions.

Now with Jake, owner of Sundown, is as honest as they come.

go with sundown. i've bought the amp and sub in my sig off of him. allways great to talk to. and would buy from him again in a heartbeat. I burped my 1500D's at .75ohms per pair for 2-3 burps in a row and they didn't even get warm. VERY happy with them and Jacob is one of the best when it comes to CS...
