so i got into my car tonight, turn it on, and the amp wont turn on. i checked all the power wires and try again and nothing. i then checked the rcas and they were very hot. i switched rcas, and the others got hot as well. the hu also started making a burning smell. so i switched hu and the same problem. i opened up my amp and everything looks good, no charring or loose wires or blown anything.

what causes hot rcas? im gonna get another pair of them in the morning, but do you think it is my hu messing up or my amp?

Best thing to do like the poster said above it to check all grounds with a DMM to make sure nothing has a lot of resistance on it. You can also find where the ground connects to the chassis and see if it's discolored in any way. Hope this gives you some more options.

the amp is trying to ground thru the RCA's (like the others have been telling you) ... something is amiss in the grounding - is the rear battery grounded to the chassis/frame somewhere ?

ive checked and rechecked the grounds and everything is ok. i checked to see if the amp is getting power and it is getting 14.5 volts. however, it wont turn on. neither the power or protection light comes on. i also reran my amp turn on wire from the hu to the amp and still nothing. ive opened up the amp and there looks like nothing is wrong

so after going looking over every little thing in my amp i found a couple charred wires. they are pointed out by the arrows
