RCA output question

Not sure if this is the right part of the forum but......

Ok My system has been in for a little now and it sounds pretty **** good everywhere but the low bass. It just doesnt seem like its there, but I can tell it is somewhat. Kinda odd. I have the PAC adapter and I know there are gain settings on it. I emailed PAC to ask what exactly this does and explained my problem with it not hitting the lows and their response was the GAIN feature will adjust the output to the RCA's, not the freq. Well if the output is sh!t wouldnt the freq's lose out on some parts? I want to pull the HU out and adjust it but it is such a PITA to get back in there so I'm a little hesitant. Since I know a lot of people on the boards prob have a PAC adapter anyone mess their gains on it?

My amp is set-up correct as well, i'm pretty positive on that but no matter what I just cant get the low notes to hit like they should. The enclosure is also the right amount for my subs as well which are 2 12" ARC audio's. I'm a little confused to this so I thought I would ask and see if anyone had any ideas.

Poor low frequency response in your case is most likely because of an issue with your enclosure or where it is placed in the car. The LOC should output all frequencies at relatively the same level and adjusting the gain on the LOC will not help to boost low frequencies.

What sort of box do you have and how to you have it oriented in your car?

The purpose of setting the gain on the PAC is to adjust it so the pac outputs its max voltage without clipping the signal at the same time your head unit begins to clip.

Maybe I am confused about what is wrong. Are you saying all the bass that comes from your sub is less than spectacular.. or just the very lowest of low notes? From what you typed I took it to mean just the very lowest notes, 35 hz and down or so.

yeah the bass does sound better when the windows are down. I guess it could be the real low stuff its not picking up, not to sure what hz though.

Ex: The song "You and that Booty" by E-40 and tpain sounds great. But Blueberry Yum Yum by ludacris sounds not so great. Thats where I would assume the notes are lower. The bass is semi there just not how it should be so I dont know how low those notes actually get.

Only some songs seem to come to life, I would assume thats pretty normal though, but many songs just seem like they should be hitting a lot lower than what I am getting.
