The Story: Hey yall! I went to GoodWill last week to donate some clothes, and had to take a peek inside to check out the electronics. WHICH IM GLAD I DID! I bought a 2 channel amp in GOOD condition for $20!!!!! I was practically foaming at the mouth I was so excited! It would've been really nice if it was a 4 channel, or had a bit more power, but hey, it really spices up my front door speakers!
Amp Specs!:
Brand: Precision Audio
Model: HSA-2100 (Hot Shots Amplifer 2 x 100)
Fuse: 1 x 15A
Power: 50w rms x 2 @ 2 ohm
Color Scheme?: White/Pink
Year: 1994
The Problem: As stated above, this amp is from 1994. It's a few years older than me... I guess back in that era of car audio, headunits had a lower output range, in comparison to modern ones. Or maybe this amp was a low end one, but either way, the gain control goes from .5 - 1v, and the RCA's I have running to it are 2v. So at around 60% volume my speakers clip BAD. Sounds real dirty n shiz.
The Fix: Here's where I need your help! Can I use a cheap PAC or Axxess brand RCA line level "bass/gain knob" to lower my 2v to 1v? Could I simply use resistors? What do ya think?
Thank you! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif
P.S. I attached a gut pic for your enjoyment, or to make you feel better about what you're running, lol.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/redface.gif.62fdbfe1a101588a808c4cff71bcb942.gif
