cookies or death??
is there a difference between the rca's i got with my knukoncepts kit and the red/white rcas that i use in my home audio? or rather, could i use the red/whites as an alternative and would it sound the same? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blush.gif.99bc659ee2012b7d826165e26fb5eebe.gif

Wires specifically designed for car audio, such as KnuKoncept's, usually have better shielding against electro-magnetic interference than home audio cabling.. This would be the main difference..

Cars are a noisy place electrically, so you want all the help you can get..

Actually exactly the opposite is true. Since the electrical system in a car is DC, there are not the fluctuating magnetic fields required to radiate noise to an audio signal.

The home environment is potentially much noisier because of the AC power running everything. However, since there is relatively little current involved in the house there isn't a huge flutuating field there either, but in the case of the home it at least IS there, so there is a potential source for noise unlike the car where 99.9% of the noise is directly related to the install rather than radiated noise.

correction, he was right, your wrong, either that or explain why you don't see twisted rca for the home?

Contrary to your belief, twised pair cables are very common in home audio. Twisted pair speaker wire is very common as well.

Induced noise in car audio is rare. Period. Twisted pair interconnects aren't needed, though they are very common in the car as well.

Induced noise requires a fluctuating magnetic field to exist. Other than the ECU, coil, ABS computer, airbag computer, fuel pump and the A/C / heater blower, you just aren't going to find anything in he car that will cause such a field. The above examples are only going to have a field capale of producing noise within extremely close proximity to them and even an unshielded cable would have to pretty much be touching one of them to get any noise from it. The current involved just isn't enough for the field to extend out very far. Nice try, thanks for playing, but you are wrong.

if a home theater freak could have his way, he would have tons of batteries since the power in his home would be much dirtier. but that simply isnt practical.

Yes they are common, yes home cables work in a car, no it doesn't sound that great //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
Why do home audio cables in a car not sound that great? Mine sound perfectly fine.....

When I tested it I used the crappy (comes with your cd player) kind and they definitely sounded worse than the PG ones I normally use //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif ...... not a thorough test //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

guys must be getting rough voltage or just dont want to admit you have junky home audio then if your getting any form of interference, i run staight cables, nothings twisted in my system in my room, and its clearer than most full out high dollar pioneer systems, and all i run are 2 bose 201 series III's off of a pioneer 7 channel reciever.

I never said they were needed anywhere. You said they didn't exist for home audio. Once you step away from the uber cheap zipcord RCAs tht come with most home components, twisited pair is the most standard type of construction. Bose 201s won't let you hear a difference in much of anything, anyway. There is a measurable (RLC measurable to an audible degree) difference between the zipcord RCAs and any decent aftermarket cable. By decent, I'm talk Knukonceptz basic cable, not Monster or Kimber or some super high dollar brand. Once you get past that, differences get into the immeasurable (read inaudible) range. In pretty much no case is noise ever much of an issue in the home either, but it does rear its ugly head from time to time and unlike in the car, it IS generally induced and a basic twisted pair construction and/or a simple foil or braided shield will get rid of it. In these cases, a lot of the time it has to do with high draw component causing a large field around their power cord or the power supply transformer causing a problem. "Dirty" voltage has nothign to do with it, but don't tell that to the "audiophiles" that swear by voltage condidtioners to "clean" the line signal.

its feesible about picking up a am station slightly, but nothing truely should make it past a decent power supply, but considering your average home is at about 60 hz.....idk of any am station that goes that low on the dial....
