rca interconnect question

its feesible about picking up a am station slightly, but nothing truely should make it past a decent power supply, but considering your average home is at about 60 hz.....idk of any am station that goes that low on the dial....
The reason that you pick up AM stations is that the wiring in the house acts as an antenna. The 60hz of the AC has nothing to do with that. I've actually picked up really strong and close AM stations on long runs of small guage speaker wire. The radio waves were actually strong enough to induce just enough voltage in the wires that you could hear the station thru the speakers with the volume turned all the way down. The fact that the dorm I lived in at the time was a six story, 1/4 mile long metal cage and the wires were run along the window sill didn't help matters, I'm sure.

well i've never lived in an apartment, nore ever lived near alot of metal in a building. idk why you'd wanna put a "big" system in a dorm room either way, but i guess there are instances where you'll get issues from running regular speaker wire, just never been an issue for me i guess?
