The T-5 IMO is decent, and you would have to talk to SS about getting it reconed since I am assuming they are the only ones that can recone it for you. But yeah, sounds like the speaker itself is "blown".

Lower right corner? Cone separation maybe? Is the cone coming apart from the surround? Maybe it is tinsel slap? I don't know what kind of sound tinsel slap makes, but I know that you can definitely hear it from everyone's recounts, and I heard it was a problem with the square subs Kicker makes, at least the older models.

no the cone is not coming apart from the surround, it happened after i had a ground loop problem and was getting alot of pops, i mean when i play it i can hear it but it still hits just as hard as the other l5 i have, its just bothering me..if i had the money i would buy different woofers but no money so no new woofers. And i wouldn't know what tinsel slap is either, never heard what it sounds like so i don't know if it is that.

well i told myself if these subs go im going to get somthing a little more high end. FI, DD, RE. but i didnt think it was going to happen this soon.

From what I have heard/read, tinsel slap comes the the tinsel leads hitting up against the cone during too much excursion, I am assuming for the particular tinsel. It will still reproduce music as hard, but just have an annoying sound in the background.

Well Fi, DD, and RE are definitely easier to recone, especially Fi. And Fi and recone some RE subs for ya with Fi soft parts. But I would call up SS and see how much they would charge for a recone. Or keep this thread alive to see what others think is the issue.

it does it on low volume as well....while its playing i can push on it slighty and it will go away...oh well i guess i'll just leave it as is and wait till i get some money to buy some new l7's
