Ok I've got Two rockford fosgate 3 way 6X9s in my Eclipse powered by a Dual 60W X 2 @ 4 ohms Amp (the speakers say they handle up to 75 watts RMS.) The amp is probably only putting out like 50 or 55 at 12 volts anyway. I've also got a Rockford Fosgate 4 ohm 15" Sub powered by a Concept 150watt RMS amp (soon to be a 300 watt amp).
Problem: Coming from one of the speakers general area I keep hearing some type of rattling, I can't tell if its possibly the side panel rattling or if its like a blown speaker. The speakers are brand new, installed them last week, and I don't *think* hear this before I put the sub in, but not positive. Its only when bass notes hit, so i'm learning toward just some rattling, and I don't see how it could possibly be a blown speaker.
In order to get what I want from this current amp on the sub I have to turn on the "H-Bass" feature on my Aiwa headunit, so this seems to be the only time it happens is when I have that set. I'd rather NOT have to adjust bass on my head unit, but at the moment until my new amp arrives I think I'll have to.
I just got the speakers last week and installed them myself, all seem fine, and the crossover on the amp powering them is set to HPF...so it should only be handling highs anyway so I don't see how it could possibly be the 6X9s.
So what do you think? Rattling or blown Rockfords? I sure hope they aren't blown already....I'm not sure if Best Buy will even take them back as I didn't have their "qualified" installers do the install.
