ok so heres the deal..

I've got a 2008 Chevy Tahoe..

I don't plan on switching the alternator for an HO and so long as my battery is fine, I dont want to change it either.

I dont want a 3000watt system, Im an SQ guy and like loud clear music.

Heres what I plan on buying:

(2) Alpine SPX-17Pro 6.5" Components - $700

(1) Alpine PDX 600.1 - $300

(1) Alpine PDX 450.4 - $400

(1) 10" JL w7 - $350

(1) Stinger 1.2 Farad Capacior - $100

=$$1,850

Let me know what you think, I was planning on spending $2,000, but have more money if needed.

Should I put the money towards a yellow top?
Yes. Dont forget to add wiring. You'll want the big 3 upgrade. I'd recommend the w6 over the w7 if SQ is what you want. I'd also get different components. You can get the same quality for half the price. Look into Hertz, Rainbow, CDT, Focal, etc...

Im guessing you're running the fronts active since you have a 4 channel amp?

I don't know what it means to run the fronts active.

As far as switching the alpine comps out, I've seen some pretty steep orices for focal and rainbow..

Can you recommend someting and will my 450.4 amp be sufficient?

I haven't heard the full SPX set, but I run the tweeters and they sound VERY good.

x2 on ditching the cap.

Spend a few days reading on here and learning about some of the great internet based companies most on here favor.

x2 on dropping the cap.

also maybe I am stupid, but by PDX 450.4 do you mean 150.4, I don't think I have heard of a 450.4 amp, and can't picture it fitting in the small PDX chassis. 150.4 should be more than enough for most component sets.

going active would be a bonus, do some searching on here for active and you will find a lot of information. Or at the least look for a component set that allows Bi-amp function.

Actually looking back now it appears you have a 4 channel to feed 2 sets of comps. To go active up front you would need a 4-channel just to power the front speakers and another amp to power speakers for the rear passengers. I would suggest dropping the second set of comps and just going for a good pair of coaxials for the back passengers.

I have heard good things about those components though so if your happy with the price they would probably be a good buy. Focal offers some mid priced comps too I believe, as does Rainbow tough to go wrong with either brand.

If sticking with the factor HU some sort of an integration unit will be a must, the RF cleansweep seems to be really good, another option that wasn't listed above would be the Memphis 6ix.

So you might need to put a oem intergration sound processor into your budget. RF 3sixty.1 or.2, JL cleansweep, Alpine 650...
Yea, its the PAC-***

As far as wiring, the PAC OEM integration module and installation are another story (i have a separate budget for all these items)

Im taking everything to a trusted local shop around here or if a highly skilled member of the board was interested that would be great too..

I would choose the second option, I took my setup to a local shop to do it, they wanted over $1100 for installation alone, not including all materials needed.

Wait a min, you want to use the PAC OEM module for a SQ install, I don't think that will cut it. I searched the PAC OEM, and it's just basically a converter.
