Is this a EXCELLENT quality Enclosure?

I would have done that, but I was unsure if he would leave the magnet on the exterior, if he turns it the other way, the ports would touch... This however is the way that the manual orientates the ports... I wanted to keep it to thier specs, so to hear the true quality of this subwoofer.
One thing I am wondering about the ports... would there be a performance issue carpetting over top of the ports on the exterior?
well you need to find a way to give the ports more clearance. That is probably too little port area for that sub as well.

If you carpet the top, you are going to drop the tuning lower. i wouldnt cover them though.

for an integra?

port up @ the seats is just... bad....

I don't see this box taking advantage of the woofer, nor do I consider it a good design.

Construction is pretty good, but that makes no difference with a bad design.

The ports are in fact NOT pointing into or onto a seat.

The sub is a ported box sub.

The size of the ports, and overall volume of the box, is of the manufacturers specs.

So not too sure what people are saying about the design...

As for the ports being too close at 2.5" from the bottom...

The enclosure design in thier manual are actually 2" from the bottom of the enclosure... This however if a big deal after testing becomes a problem, I will add a bend to the pipe, pointing in a direction where there is atleast 4" clearance.

The box is not 100% remember that.. your input is being taken into consideration, but frankly I beleive that the ports being 2.5" from the bottom will not pose much of a problem. As I said, they can be changed, however we will test them the way they are.

The big test will be tongiht, we shall see soon enuff.

Word.

the ports are firing up, correct? The box will be pushed against the rear seat, correct? Firing up there is just... bad //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

The ports *are* too close... but more importantly, its just a bad design.

Not much more to say here, most people don't know what you *can* get out of a box anyway //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

The ports fire at the hatchback window.

As for the ports... They can be fixed... so exclude this from the criticism //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

As I said, we will check it out, if they are no good where they are at, we will add the bend, to make sure there is 4"

so they are firing up and the box is pushed against the rear seats, am I at least right about that? "firing at the glass"... hmm...

Spkrman:

I havent seen any forum posts, or pictures on your web page in regards to SQ subwoofer designs... Which, funny as it may be is in this case a ported Focal Utopia 38 WX. I am sure you know a great deal about SPL oriented enclosures.

As I said above the ports are not pointing into the seat.. Im not sure why you think it would be... But it will be firing into the open air behind the back seat (Hatchback)

Your critisism is pointless without some kinda of 'suggested alignment' on where they SHOULD be pointed.

Also, more explaination of your 'POOR DESIGN' comment would be appreciated... Is it because the ports are too close? If thats the case, I will ignore what you had said, as I have mentioned that they can be altered to be as suggested in this forum.

Peace.

Excuse me here... but your box here is neither SQ NOR SPL... its just bad. I'm sorry if you don't understand WHY its bad by DESIGN (NOTHING to do with the ports choked, but that sure as hell doesnt help).

My boxes are LOUD and they sound GOOD.... to say I only build SPL boxes is insanity... flat response, LOUD, tight, clean... hear one and maybe you'll understand.

Read my posts once over again... either you aren't paying attention or your slightly dyslexic - I said sub back port up with the box pushed against the seats is BAD... NOT THE PORT FIRING INTO THE SEAT... I think even YOU know not to do that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

If you build a box thats not loud, it doesn't automatically make it "sound quality"... sound quality has zilch to do with sound LEVEL... if the box is quiet its quiet - but quiet doesn't automatically mean it sounds good.

I just happen to make boxes that sound GOOD and by proper design get LOUD!

I'm sorry if you don't know how good it a box *can* get, but your more than welcome to buy one from me and find out =)
