so i have designed a new box for my truck because firing up just sounds utterly terrible! here is what ive got so far. oh yeah cerwin vega HED's which call for about 1.4 each so should be a nice fit. there not spl subs so dont flame me haha... so here the box

external measurements

w- 42"

H- 11.5"

D- 18"

with an internal volume of about 2.8ft^3 but w/out vent 3.03ft^3

i have decided to port it to 33 hz the vent measures

w- 8"

H- 2"

D- 8.77"

please help if i am wrong on this PLEASE HELP! first time porting!

which will give me 33 hz right?

well n e way's heres a pic of the box

will post more upon request for relevant questions pertaining to diff. views

thanks alot!

really.... i must say that did cross my mind but is that a right size port for the tuning freq.? i have never built a ported enclosure

ive always done subs slanted with the back of the seat.. but have never gone ported :/

my next box will be slanted with seats and ported to passenger side, or a semi wall with 4 15's tuned to 30 hz //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

and im pretty sure you need more port area wich means bigger box if you want to stay with 1.4ft^3 per sub

and fyi you can go alot wide than 40

since you cant use the jumpseats with the box you have planned. why not take em out?

boom, instant 10+ inches

I hope that's not the case when I build my box in my Ranger. I was planning on going subs up, port up.
i just could not stand the sound! i had a box firing the subs into the font seats first then the sub up set-up and just was not cutt'n it! could be my ear but i think sub up SUCKS! let me know how yours goes!

Extra work! haha! but i really dont want to take em out just because! plus with that box i can get away with 1 sheet of mdf!

from my calculation it looks like it needs to be h 8

w 2

d 9.8

d= depth

but dont count me to be right on
aw crap! ur right it should be 9.8! haha i calculated it off of 3.03 Ft^3 instead of the actuall internal volume haha thx thou!

alright so i have the final design painted an all on sketchup with a rough sketch of the back of the truck as you can c i have moved the port to fire down. it is in the middle of the subs 33 hz. im going to hopefully start the build this sat. putting in two cerwin-fega HED 12.4 ran off of a fusion PPam2000.1 wired to 1 ohm

heres a view of the bottom with the port

and with the seat and amp rack on top didnt feel like making the passenger seat

Do not do subs up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I really hope that little slit in the box isn't the port
you need at LEAST about double that port area, really you should half 3 or 4 times as much
Lakota, its subs down man. SUBS down. and Rashaddd so wut would be a decent amount of port area? ive got alot of room to work with so let me no please!
