And sports news suffers the same plague.I was talking about sports news, not national, or world news.

Sports news covers all the big or important stories no matter who it is. It just so happens that the NFL players doing the dumbest stuff seems to be the more popular ones. They can't help it if Plaxico Burress wants to shoot himself in a club, or if Dante Stallworth wants to get drunk and kill someone with his car. The freaking national news will report that the President is going on vacation, or his daughters got a new pet. There's a difference.Sure they aren't. That's why the third string guy getting caught with a hooker gets equal show time to the brett favre and michael vick stories, right?
You missed the point. They are only the "big or important" stories because they are the big stars. The bigger a star you are, the more scrutiny the press places on you. Are you suggesting otherwise?Sports news covers all the big or important stories no matter who it is. Nope. My whole point was that Brett Favre craves the attention. And also that the press covers the big names stars more because they tend to do the stupidest things. You missed the point. Well said is well said.....That is a common misconception. The media CHOOSES what to report on. Sure, some stories are impossible to not report on, wars, presidential elections, etc. But sport's figures? Plenty of them get busted every week for something heinous. Its the Michael Vicks, Brett Favres and Pete Roses that the media covers until we are sick to death of the story, while the third string running back beating up a ********** or the pitcher in the minor leagues getting busted with coke might maybe maybe get a 5 second blurb once on the news. Why? Because the media CHOOSES high profile players to increase their own ratings. Make no mistake, the mainstream media is a business, not some unbiased non-profit public service organization.
If some third string kicker for the Bills got caught texting pics of his pecker to a cheerleader, we wouldn't have probably ever even heard about it.
Brett Favre craving attention doesn't create the news stories, reporters do. Unless you are suggesting Favre texted those pics in hopes of getting embroiled in this scandal.Nope. How do you explain your theory of a direct correlation between the size of the star and the stupidity of their actions? Pure coincidence? Yes, that's much more plausible logic than the media is out to make a buck just like the rest of us. Good call. And also that the press covers the big names stars more because they tend to do the stupidest things.
If you don't think Favre changing his mind over and over about if he's going to play or retire, and then doing a commercial making fun of his indecisiveness means he doesn't like the attention I don't know what to tell you.Brett Favre craving attention doesn't create the news stories, reporters do. Look at the stories with the big name stars. Kobe, Vick, Tiger Woods, the crap they did is stuff people make movies about. They don't just do little screw ups, they have these complete idiotic messups. You expect the ESPN not to talk about it?How do you explain your theory of a direct correlation between the size of the star and the stupidity of their actions? Pure coincidence? Its like the marijuana thread all over again. I keep repeating my point, over and over, and it keeps messing up your hair as it flies over. It doesn't matter if Favre is absolutely dying for the attention, the person making the news (Favre in this case) is not the person responsible for choosing to air it on television, how often it airs, or for how long. The reporter is (and of course the producer). Favre's actions dont make the stories huge, his desire for lime doesn't make the stories huge, the fact that the stories relate to a household name superstar like Favre make the stories huge. Again, the thrid string kicker for the Bills texting cock pics to some cheerleader wouldn't make the front page, yet if its a Favre or LeBron, its sensationalized for all its worth. Why? Because reporters and tv producers need to make a profit too.If you don't think Favre changing his mind over and over about if he's going to play or retire, and then doing a commercial making fun of his indecisiveness means he doesn't like the attention I don't know what to tell you.
I expect ESPN to talk about them because of the person involved. You think Michael Vick was the first person caught in a dog fighting ring? You think Favre was the first player to be caught in a sexually embarrassing situation? Hell Favre's texting scandal doesn't even appear to be illegal, the woman is not claiming sexual harassment or pressing charges. She knows what you dont, scandals with big name stars means big time fame and fortune.Look at the stories with the big name stars. Lol you make everything into some kind of debate. All I said was Brett Favre does stuff for attention, just look at him in the off season. If you don't agree I don't care. There's plenty of people who do.Its like the marijuana thread all over again. I keep repeating my point, over and over, and it keeps messing up your hair as it flies over. ESPN talks about all the stories. If you disagree you must not watch sports center much. Of course Fox news and those other places report the big names stars because they're talking to a wider audience that Sports Center. Let's make it clear that I'm talking about places that report solely on sports stories, not fox and cnn, etc.I posed a question to you, that you conveniently ignored. Is it more plausible that the big stories happen to big stars because the size of the star correlates to the stupidity of their actions, as you have claimed... or is it more plausible that the stories become large because reporters and producers are in it to make a profit just like any other business man? Wait, dont answer, dodge it again, because we both know your theory is stupid and naive.
Of course scandals with big names lead to fame, I never said anything opposite of that. My point again, is that sports news report all the news in sports. Watch Sports Center, they're not talking about Brett Favre all day. They talk about it because it's news but they cover other things.I expect ESPN to talk about them because of the person involved. You think Michael Vick was the first person caught in a dog fighting ring? You think Favre was the first player to be caught in a sexually embarrassing situation?
