You have no idea what those old *** Toyota are capable of. You take a $1000 1985 Toyota. Put in a $200 4" suspension lift. Put in lockers front and back for $800. 35" mudders for $900. You have a truck for under $3000 that can't be stopped. They are little tanks. Super light, quite slow, but will power through anything.
You can get a little more technical than that, and they will crawl over any rock you look at, climb any hill, and romp any mud hole.
Mine should have a 327 V8 within a year. It will be more than capable of off-roading (both mudding, and crawling), and do one hell of a sweet smoke show.
That's the worst thing about my dodge. Hardly any room for subs. Amps have to sit under the front seats (which neither my PG of my Alpine fit properly). I'm just getting into showy type installs, and love doing it, but there's nothing I can do to my truck, without taking the back seat out. The fiance would kick my nut sack all the way to the states if I tried that one. But it will sound amazing once I make the box for the Bostons.
I love my Fabtech. It's a mean looking lift, though it's only a 4.5". Easily clears 35" tires. It rides a little rough, but it is a 1-ton. The trailing arms look way tougher than stock. They are solid rounds. Very cool.

I lifted mine mainly for the look. But around here I go all over up in the mountains and hills. While I don't really do much of it, I have the capability to when I need to. I occasionally go mudding, a few off road trails and that, but for the most part, my truck is a on road vehicle. I love the look, and I love having more ability go off road if I need to. I'm not afraid to go anywhere in my truck, weather its out in a remote area to pick up a stranded friend, or a 500 mile road trip. It's a great balance. SO I lifted mine for those reasons, but I would say my decision to lift it was for about 85-90% looks. I did a 2" suspension lift, 3" body lift, and these are 33" tires (from 29" stock size).

That's a pretty badass Durango. Love the blacked out look. It's too bad it's hard to clear bigger tires in those trucks though. In my 1500 I put in a very clean looking body lift, and it cleared 35's like nothing.

Which means they shouldn't be street legal because they're dangerous ...

They take a lot more to get higher. I mean, I want a low COG but even after 5"s I still had to trim a decent amount to clear 33's. Now I'm wanting to move up to 35's but I have to start looking into throwing in an 8.8 in the back first...
The D35 probably won't like a heavy foot with 35's.

Don't bother. He obviously has no idea what he's talking about.
Thats one point that does stink, specially the way the new trucks are built, older trucks were similar where ya needed at least 4" lift to start running 35's and that was pretty much the biggest tire. Now my truck has 33's stock and I could run 35's even without a leveling kit, heard of some guys running 37's on a leveling kit. There is another guy who with some trimming and cut out flares is running 41's on a 4.5" lift lol. I'm hoping to stick with simply 35's on a 4" lift won't have to worry about tire rub and won't make the bed too hard to get in and out of.
