i wouldnt do that anymore...some gain knobs are a lot more sensitive than others, and you're really risking your shit by doing that. post your amps RMS wattage and how many ohms they're running at, and i'm someone here would be more than happy to tell you what to set your gains at.

god i feel retarded lol, first off my amp has no volts on it, it just says gain, second i tryed reading jl tutorial, but dont know how many volts to set it at, and i do have a volt meter... and im not any good at match so if somone cold tell me that would be cool...

its easy dude...
turn your gain to 0

turn your hu up about 80%

start turnin the gain up till it starts distorting
This is basically how I set my gains. Sometimes I'll use a test tone cd.

Here's another thought to add. Since you say that your amp doesn't have gain markings and that you don't know much about setting gains, it's possible that where your amps previous settings were may have been equal to around 4 volts. (just an example) If your hu is 2 volts, then your previous setting would have made your output quieter. Turning up the gain MAY have put it closer to 2 volts which would match the hu. (Which is one of the main purpose of the gain anyway.)

That would help explain your dramatic increase in sound. If your speakers aren't distorting, then great. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
