Rainbow SLC Vs. Focal PolyGlass

Hey Guys,

I just purchased a PPI A200 amp to power a set of 6.5" front comps. My choices are narrowed down to the Ranbow SLC or the Focal Polyglass V2. I mostly listen to classic rock, 80's rock, metal, and progressive rock.

I was also wondering if anyone could explain to me why the description of the SLC "kicks" states :"System has to be used with an 80 Hz (12 dB/Oct.) high pass!". Whereas the normal SLC description mentions nothing of the sort. I have a set of custom kick panels that I'll be using, so I was just wondering what the difference between the two would be, other than the mounting depths.

Just curious as to what anyone here thinks would best fit my music taste and amp situation,

Joe

If this doesnt answer your question, Im sure what will...

Good news from Spain

On the IASCA competition at Valencia, Spain our Spanish distributor Gastel Fabrique Direct took 1st place with the SLC 265. The sound quality score was 3 points ahead of the much more expensive "Focal Utopia".

Well,

That sealed the deal for me as far as choosing the Rainbows. Now, if someone could clarify the difference between the 6.5" SLC & 6.5" SLC "Kicks," with their added "System has to be used with an 80 Hz (12 dB/Oct.) high pass!,"

it would oh so greatly appreciated.

Joe

Thanks for the link to the article, it cleared up some confusion for me. I saved a copy for future reference........ and it looks like I'll be going with the 6.5" SLC Kicks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.

I was looking through the Rainbow website, at the specs page, and it noted that minimal amp power for the SLC Kicks was 75 per side. Since the speaker is at 4 ohm, do you think the a200 will sufficiently power these (only rated at 50 x 2 @ 4 ohm, 100 x 2 @ 2 ohm). I've heard that these amps are underrated, but I'm a newB, so I thought I'd ask.

Thanks Again,

Joe

Those speakers will be fine, even at double or more that power. No worries.

Now realize what the SLC265 w/ kick costs...you get some speakers with technology/R&D behind it. A constant q driver optimized for IB, to deliver in the critical 80-220hz in the smallest of doors....i love these speakers for the money

So I'm ok to run the front SLC kicks with 2 channels off of a JBL PX300.4 that sends out 123.5w rms per channel. Now the question is, In addition to getting the front components, I want to upgrade the rears to the Rainbow SL 165 coaxials. Will these be able to handle the 123.5w rms from the JBL amp?
