hi

im looking to buy some CMX 265's as im sure they are the corect set for me, i just wanted a little more info from people that use them, like how will they sound off 140rms from an audio system f2 280 amp

I had mine running at 150 passive for awhile and it sounded really good.

btw, i might have my set for sale if you're interested. i'm running the kick version.

I'm running CMX Kicks, too. I love mine. I'm running them active, but they also sound great using the supplied passive Rainbow crossovers. They can take 200w a side when being run passive, no problem.

140 watts a side should make them sound great, as long as your amp is putting out clean power.

do they go loud with 140rms im going to have to run them passive as i only got a 2 channel amp and i just bought it recently for the comps.

Does anyone know if that power i have will be better suited to a the SLC265's

i like the sound a lot better running active than passive.

Yeah, so do I. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

And 140w a side is fine for the CMX's...if you get the Kick version, you might want a little more power.

when i first got mine i wasnt very impressed - they sounded good but they were hyped up so much - but after listneing to tehm for awhile i love them... their tweeter isnt harsh at all... and the mids pound... i run over 200 and they take it with ease.. i defently smelt my coil (maybe glue) once or twice running heavy bass tunes at over 250 - so i'd say thats about their limit... they'll prolly melt before they start sounding bad...

im running them passive - i wanna go active but i love the tweeter protection and im afraid i might hurt them... if you run them passive tho.. i know this isnt normally recommended ... but i thought they sounded alot better with a +3 or + 5 bump at 3.2K hertz... and the smaller the octave the better

Sorry to bring this back up.

But for you guys that have ran these active. What were your x-over points set at?

I might be going active with mine if my current issues end up being a passive crossover issue. As my drivers side set keep fading in and out. With 150x2 on them.

I will have 120x4 to work with, How much do you think these tweets can handle safely?

i wouldn't give the tweets the for 120w just turn down the gain until it matches with the mids.

L - 80hz@12db or flat

mid L - 80hz@12db

mid H - 3200hz@12db

H - 3200@24db
