Are you sure it's fubared? How did you apply the 3M product?
Is it the same as this 3M that I used...
After I wetsanded my box I used all 8 ounces of it on my box. I applied it using a terry cloth towel by hand at first then went to using an Orbital Buffer with a foam pad.
I had that whitish look on my box too after using the 3M, but then I used some meguires gold class wax and it came right out and I was left with high gloss black shinny finish...
Do you think that you went to deep and that's the primer that you see in the paint?
Try waxing the box with some good wax just for the heck of it to see if it helps in any way.
Now that I look at he picks more it seems like the paint is worn down to the primer almost. That 3M compund takes the paint down too. I saw alot of black on the towels that I used when I was buffing it, this is very interesting with what happened.
It sure does look smooth though. It will be a good surface to add more paint.
