Hi guys,

I read this all the time on the forums with good reason.

However, not being an expert box builder and wanting to build the

best box possible (for my AQ HDC3-A 15"s) or any other box for that matter, what are some good tips to get the maximum performance and SPL score out of it? I know its a subjective question, but are there some areas where it really matters? Ill be using 6" aero ports to maximize my air space. But does minor things like wedging the inside corners, the MDF inside surfaces, etc. have any impact?

Thanks

Everything helps a little. Bracing every foot, at least a dowel. Resin helps cause mdf is really just a sponge of sawdust and does leak air and absorb sound waves. Sub and port placement in the vehicle has easily a 3db effect on how loud it is at your headrest which is all that matters really. So your running a single 6 per 15? uh oh

What is a zenon asb 2000 amp. and with anything over 1000 watts your next biggest gain over a box will be electrical 13v is a lot louder than 12 on the same setup when you have more amp power than alt/battery power.

does "uh oh" mean bad news?

I have only a little over 6 cu.ft net after the ports and sub displacement.

I thought it was doable. Thats what I have read. I went with PP ports over a sloted port to save on internal space and hopefully get away with it.

Ill be facing the subs up and ports towards the rear of the hatch

The amps are basically the same power output as 2200 watts fron an Atomic, Sundown etc. Same builder

8" aeros are louder than 6's
That's completely situation dependent..

Just //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif a 6" aero per 15 (even if each sub has 4 cubic feet net of airspace) would be enough port area aeroport-wise.

Have you considered a nice flared (kerfed) slot port?...with the enclosure pushed into the the back, passenger's side corner with the subs up and a slot-port firing to the driver's side with a flare/kerf flowing forwards may get loud..just a thought. Id test between that and subs up, port back. And you could even flare the inside of the slot port aswell //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

What are the dimensions you have to work with for the space?

He just wants to sell him some of his 8" ports
