quick subwoofer question

Ok, if there is no reference on voltage applied, they could have used the standard 2.83 volts applied to the driver. This yields a slightly higher sensitivity than what other companies may post. You can reference all this stuff here:

http://www.the12volt.com/ohm/ohmslaw.asp

I use the same reference when posting the Mach 5 stuff. I do however provide a voltage reference, so there is a reference and there are no surprises. It is not a bad thing, just something folks should be aware of.

Hope this helps you.

Oh, and yes, to have a driver with higher sensitivity will result in a driver that is louder with the same amount of power applied as compared to a driver with lower sensitivity. If you look at pro audio drivers, they have a very high sensitivity because of the requirements to play very loud with modest power applied.

yes that hhelps thank you, now just another question.... should i roll with a sub thats 350rms 1400 max, 96DB or should i roll with a sub thats 400Rms, 1200max and 89Db... both Db come from 2.83 volts.... suggestionS?

Firstly, don't be too hung up on the power handling, especially the 'max', 'peak' or any other non-RMS rating. They mean absolutely nothing other than trying to **** people into thinking they are better than the others. Look at the RMS rating, and even then, don't be all that concerned about it. Drivers can usually handle more power than what they are rated for, so long as it is clean power.

I assume you have about 400 watts to work with, correct? Don't be afraid of looking at drivers you like that have a higher power rating. Just because Sub A can handle 1000 watts doesn't mean you HAVE to have 1000 watts. Applying 400 watts to it would be just fine.

What's your budget, power, application and plans for it? Answering these simple questions will help others to help you.

ok well, right now i am running an 2 infinfitiy 12.1 perfects off a JLB GTO 600.1II amp im planning on selling my subs..... but im not sure if i want to kep an inifity and use it, or just buy the pionner, amp is rated, 424W at 4ohms, and 530 at 2ohms.

budget is around 200$ without the box,..... it will be running in a sunfire, not compitition i just need to make some turnk space but at the same time i wouldnt mind trying a different subwoofer
