Flat equals smoothest response. Sealed boxes and higher tuned ported boxes tend to have peaks either at F3 or a lil after it. This usually isn't desirable, and if you look at sealed box graphs, they are usually smoother than ported ones for that reason. Of course, a graph on the computer is only a rough guideline as to what is truly necessary for your application.
