quick question about type X sub

is the alpine 12" type X subwoofer stable at 2ohms (1000watts)? sorry if this is a stupid question...i dont know too much when it comes to car audio.

subwoofers arent "stable" at certain loads. They can be wired to certain loads, all of which are fine for the sub. On the other hand, amps are only stable at certain loadsd. Some only can go down to 2 ohms, and others can run at .35.

With the type x, if youre running just one, it can be wired to 2 ohms or 8 ohms. Which amp do you plan on running?

i plan on running it with a alpine pdx 1000.1

you can wire the sub to 2 ohms and that amp will be perfect. Im sure you can get something that will do the job for cheaper, but whatever works.

you would want to wire it like the first picture shown.
