i hooked up my inside speakers to a 4ch performance teknique amp and it still doesnt sound like i want it to be. it still sounds as loud as it did w/out the amp. ppl telling me to get an eq, or a crossover, or a bigger amp. what should i do to boost up the sound and make it more clear? any ideas?

make sure the gain and all filters are set correctly what do you mean they dont sound like you want are you expecting massive amounts of bass from 6.5s or something. Also what are you running exactly

What kind of head unit do you have? You would probably get better sound from an aftermarket head unit.

I would add subs... since you have a 4-ch amp, this will be easy... hook up the front channels of the amp to your 4 - 6.5" speakers (Amp can do this, it's 2-ohm stable. Only thing is, you will not have fading capability... which is usually not that important... as a matter of fact, I would just hook up the front speakers... you might like it better), and set the crossover on those channels to high pass.... hook up the remaining two rear channels of the amp to your subs and set the crossover to low pass.

This is called a subwoofer/satellite system, and is the basis of most good car systems. With the front and rear sections of the amp running dedicated, narrower bands of frequencies, it improves efficiency, SPL, clarity, and bandwidth/extension.

You don't need an eq, crossover, or bigger amp. It sounds like there's something wrong with your speakers. When you say you want it to be more clear, what do you hear? Does it get distorted when you turn up the volume? Does it sound like the speakers are blown?

Even though those speakers are relatively low-end (no offense meant), they should still sound decent with an amp. The mids and highs should be relatively clear, but the lows will either be missing or more likely, distorted. You could try setting the high-pass on your amp to about 100 Hz, and see if that clears things up.

Actually I just noticed you have a 15" L5. In that case, you definitely want to high-pass the speakers, and let the sub handle the lows. Jusr curious, what amp are you using with your sub? What is the low-pass filter set at?

they distorte a lil bit when i play it high.
Ah, ok. Your amp has a built-in high-pass and low-pass filter, use it. Set it to high-pass mode, and set the frequency to about 100 Hz. Your speakers can't handle those lower frequencies at high volume.

Also, it's very possible you have the gains set too high on your amp as well, which will cause a distorted signal to be sent to the speakers when you turn up the volume on your HU. There's a sticky in the amplifier forum about how to set the gains to the right level.

If all of this doesn't help, it may be time to upgrade the speakers.
