i just built a slot ported box for my L7 and inside it is all wood and silicone on the seems...i want to know before i attatch the top of the box can i spraypaint the inside of the box black so that when you look in the port u dont see mdf and silocone? or will that negatively affect the box/performance of the woofer? i figure if i paint it black, between that and the shadow cast by the port, and the dark-grey carpet, the box will overall look better...so yeah....basically good idea or bad idea:eyebrow:

spray it and then place the top on it.i would let the paint dry a bit before you put in your woofer.

x2, the fumes of the spraypaint can cause alot of danger to the coils of your subwoofer. Same for the silicone. Make sure to let the silicone dry up, because those are some powerful fumes silicone and spray paint offers.

Coils? I thought the trouble was with silicon vapors and foam surrounds. The only damage I'd suspect the coil could possibly go through would be some sort of chemical delamination?

X2, never heard of coil damage from fumes, but all is possible...

How about rubber surrounds... i know they are more durable, but are they less effected by fumes, etc?
