im working on the car today...mainly getting rid of alt whine and some deadening, and im listening to the car and i went ahead and disconnected all my speakers except for my tweeters...

for some reason the tweeters are playing low freqs and distorting....they are playing highs fine, which leads me to think they are not blown, but for some reason i can hear them trying to play bass notes it almost seems like, and they distort down low...

they are crossed at 3.15k @ 24db slope...any idea why they are getting that kind of signal...any help greatly appreciated im outside right now and the car is apart so id be able to work on the problem..

when i switch them to the mids it sounds different in terms of freqs....

yes this is active and the settings are the same as they were yesterday...

now they sound blown...

the crossover point doesn't 'remove' the lower frequencies, just drops them off at an increasing rate the lower and lower you get. Try a higher slope like 36dB to see if it helps. Best thing to do is mess with the crossover settings and see if anything helps.

well more odd stuff..

the tweeters sound better with less of a slope, like they sound better at 6db than 12db, bettter at 12db then 24db, AND they sound better the lower they are crossed...but im still getting that odd distortion

they sounded better when hooked up to the mid channel, the the xover point on the mid on them then they do with the tweeter xovers...

i dont get this

no distortion whatsoever when they are being run without a slope, at the same volume even if i put a 6db slope on them they start distorting....handles everything fine while passive...im loosing it

Exactly how do you have these wired to your amp and the RCAs coming from the HU? If you're running active, you don't have a 'rear' channel input from the HU. It's High - mid - low.

thats the thing...all i did today was dead around my woofer i didnt even disconnect anything or change any settings...it also does not matter which side of the front channel i use they both sound the same
