Quick Gain Question.

The RMS of my sub is 750 watts, and the RMS of my amp is 950, now I know my DD can take the 950 no problem but I'm wondering if I should set my amp with a DMM to the sub or amp, right now I'm at 39 volts AC which is right for 750 and it's 43 for 950 so I was just thinking I could get a little more if I turn it up. I just need to know that I'm not technically clipping if it's at the amps rating. Make sense?

If you turn it up, you will be clipping unless your voltage is a perfect 14.4v. However...

EVERYONE clips in car audio. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

thanks but that didn't help much, I guess rephrased the question is, will I be okay at 43 volts?

Yes, you will clip slightly, but not enough for you to worry. As I stated, everyone clips in car audio. If we didn't, we'd all run 2kW+ amps to have enough overhead to never worry about clipping.

I would start by setting it to the 950 watts the amp is spec'ed at as a starting point, then turn it down until it blends with the front stage.

Too often the subs in cars overwhelm the front stage anyway, that way you will likely end up in a safe spot for the sub and sound better at the same time.
