ok so i have an old laptop that has some sensitive info on it such as financial stuff etc..... well im selling iit and i just put a new HD in so i wouldnt have to worry about anybody recovering it, but im just curious is there any other place that this stuff could be stored other than my old drive? what got me thinking was when i reinstalled the new OS it came up for my account name as austin and idk how it could know that if it has a brand new HD in it and full reloaded OS

Just throw it in the dishwasher to be sure.

If you want to keep your old hard drive than you can get an external drive and install it in there and use it that way. Of if not than just smash it a few times and make sure to recycle it. (^_^)

Your info would only be on the old hard drive. RAM is volatile.

I would wipe the drive (Dariks Boot and Nuke) and just sell it without the OS. OR you could "find" him one on the torrent sites. If I were buying I would more than likely wipe the drive myself.
