quick cell phone question

Ok, so if a phone is "unlocked" then it will work on any cell phone providers service right? and assuming this is correct, all the features: text message, voice mail, internet will all also work as it should on a phone for the provider right?

yes.. i have a v400 and it is made for cingular. but then i got it unlocked and now it works for tmobile. but fuk that phone.. i got a v3 razr now

And be wairy of internet phone sales. I bought a phone off ebay that was "new". I looked at the sticker behind the battery, it was a refurb. It also stated it was "unlocked" ready to use on any provider. Turns out it wasn't, and I went through some bullshit for about two months trying to get it unlocked...ended up having to spend more money on a data cable...and using a simple program written by a forum member (on a cell site) to unlock it.

Then, phone shits out on my 6 months later...screen just stops working.

I don't know about other services...but only Boost/Nextels can work with each other being unlocked.

I can't go and get me a Treo 6500 and unlock it and use it as a Nextel

a phone can be unlocked to be used on anyone's network, but some extras like multimedia messaging can only be done with that provider's phone, not an unlocked one. it all depends on the feature and the provider, so check with someone. dont assume

Usually internet doesn't work either, cuz it's proprietary sotware for the particular network.

ok well im getting a treo 600..brand new unlocked for 240..sprint has the 600..so do you think it would work?

BTW treo fans..the 700 has been released..dono when itll go on sale but im just gettin the 600 now until that omes out..so i can resign my contract an get it for cheper...its windows btw
