Quick 5x7 question...

Ok, so I'm about to bid on and hopefully win me some new Eclipse 5x7's. I removed one of the rear speakers to see what's going to need done. That was pretty easy and I'm sure I could do the install myself or should I get a professional? Anyways, I saw that mines have some type of connection to the factory speakers, and was wondering what I'll have to do to install the new ones?

Here are some pictures, hopefully they do all the talking for me...

My Taurus had those. Snip 'em with about 2" of wire left on the terminals. That way you have straight wire to attach to the new speakers, and if you want to remove them and sell the vehicle with a stock stereo you can solder them back on.

Good input Raven. That'd be so easy also. I'm assuming when I cut the wire, I'd have 2 wires, my + and -?

Am I correct and would I have any problems doing it this way?

Yes, you're correct. Positive and negative. Use the terminal and/or stock speaker to figure out which wire is + and which is - if they aren't marked. A Sharpie or some colored eletrical tape can mark them for later purposes.

I did it that way without incident.
