Quick 2 Ohm amp into 4 Ohm sub ?.........

I searched and got around 2000 results so I'm just going to ask.....

I know it's not good to push a 2 Ohm load with a 4 Ohm amp.

What about pushing a 4 Ohm load with a 2 Ohm amp?

If one would take a 2x200 @ 2 Ohm and hook it to 2 SVC 4 Ohm subs in stereo mode, what if anything would be the results?

the "4ohm" is a "condition" for which the amp is rated.

much like an engine might provide 100 horsepower at 3000 rpm.

basically, if the amp (engine) doesn't have a 2ohm load (spin at 3000rpm), you will not get the 2ohm rated power (the 3000 rpm rated horsepower) from the amp (engine).

you should be able to see the analogy -- basically the amp has no "ohms", but is designed to work best with certain loads (rated in ohms). this is much like an engine being designed to work best with certain RPM ratings. if the end user doesn't run the engine at the optimal ratings, then the results may not be optimal.

of course the end goal is good sound (or for an engine maybe a desired speed). eg, you may not need all 1000W from the amp to get good sound just as you might not need all the horsepower from an engine to drive on the highway.
