Hey, i have a 98 Dodge Intrepid, today i'm going to get my two 15in kicker comps installed along with my 1100 watt directed amp 5 channel.

I want to get four door speakers, now when i go get them installed today, i'm going to ask them what size i will need.

What i have came here to ask you is, can i hook up 4 speakers to my amp if i already have my two subs going into one channel, also, will i need a capacitor or something else so my battery won't drain like hell?

(I'm just going to get some low price speakers, $200 for all four.)

If you have a 5 channel amp and your only using 1 channel for subs then you can use the other 4 channels for your speakers.

I wouldnt use a capacitor (they installers might say it will help but they are junk) what you should do instead is the Big 3, which involves running 0/1 or 4awg wire from the Alternator + to Battery +, Battery - to Chassis, Chassis to Engine Block

Also instead of getting some crap speakers just get some really nice front ones and you wont have to worry about rear fill speakers. Im currently only running my front components ($160) and They are awesome without rear speakers even powered.

So i should tell the installers to wire it to where i can hook up 2 more speakers, because i'm thinking about just getting two nice front speakers like you suggested.

Yeah If they are using 1 channel for the subs then tell them you are thinking about bridging the other 4 channels (to make 2 channels) so you can power a nice front component set.

Also look into the Big 3 and see if they can do it for you (or do it yourself)

Sounds good man, thanks. One more question, i AM getting a 4 gauge wire kit, so i should just tell them what you told me, and they'll wire it different?

They wont wire you amp any differently but mention to them (bring a print off of the big 3 thread in) the big 3 and see if they would want to do it.

4awg is about right but if you ever plan to go much bigger (more powerful subs/speakers) in the future you may want to drop the cash on some 1/0awg wire.

okay, thank you.

Front end setup is most important part of SQ setup
I must have missed where the OP said this was a SQ set up. For a daily driver 4 speakers are perfectly fine and "might" even be better to some. Not everyone is worried about imaging, stage issues, etc... they just want some reasonbly loud & clean tunes in their ride...

Exactly what i want, a cheap, good quality system where i can get some good clarity and decent bass.

I just hope my amp powers out enough to satisfy me. (1100 watt directed amp)

most cars are done with 6 gauge wire already. i wouldn't bother with 4g for the big 3. just go straight for 1/0g.

id suggest reading up a lot more on this. idk how mechanically inclined/ handy you are, but i wouldn't trust best buy doing any of it on my vehicle. theres a lot of good info around here, just do a lot of reading and ask questions. you'll be much better off doing things on your own.

oh, and im guessing the amp is 220w per channel? that should be fine for the comps. you should have looked into the CVX's though. better all around drivers without going overboard.

That car has the same layout as my 300M I believe. 6.5s on the front and 6x9s in the rear. Might be a comp set up front. I like Pioneers REVs if you can find them. Otherwise, some 3 ways up front and some 6x9s that can take decent power.

I missed the part where he said he was having Best Buy install his equipment? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif
