Those with Focal 165K2P active....questions..

if you do 3.15 then I'd start with a 24dB slope, or 18 at the minimum. And don't be afraid to try 4k maybe at 12dB.

Best part of going active is being able to experiment/tweak things until you get the sound you want.

This is the response from Focal:

"With no less than a 18db/oct. Slope, you can play between 2800 – 3800 hz which ever works with your install.

I wouldn’t try to hard to go active. You will find that it can be quite hard sometimes to improve on the sound by going active and not using the Focal crossover."

I do like the way they sound with the passive crossover, but if I dont go active, Ill need to find a use for the rear 150w x2 channels!

all the manufacturers try and say that. but it's far from the truth.
passives are not optimal. every install can benefit from more tuning options.
But tuning involves time and Im sure most manufactures assume that people dont like to invest that into there system (they have installers put in there stuff, they cant run wire) where most of use on Ca run our own wire and can tune our systems fairly decent

Well, I finally tested it out today. With both Zapco Symbilinks in the 6db position and gains all the way down it sounds pretty good. I didnt even have to fiddle with the gains. The tweeters seem to be fine where they are, not too harsh.

One thing I found annoying with my 800PRS is that I couldnt figure out how to mute the sub while tuning the front stage! Anyone know how? Im gonna go dig up the manual in the meantime.

going active n u dont know how to mute sub??????

when you are on the main page of the audio menu where it shows the sub, mids, and highs but you aren't actually in one of them you can hold down (not push in, but hold down) either the right dial on the HU's face or the dial on the remote. gotta hold it down for like 3-5 seconds though.

not sure if i explained that very well. its kinda hard to explain.

Thanks I just figured it out, even though I read and re-read the steps in the book, I was still pushing the knob IN and not DOWN in NW1..... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
