Question with kinetik 3800Hc

I Just seen a 3800Hc online, for just under 500$.. I have a few questions, When it says 135 Amp hours what exactly does that mean??I want to run about 2500rms, How do you convert amps into volts then volts into watts?? I'm really confused How do I go about finding this out?

That battery will be plenty for 2500rms. I dont know much about the amp hour thing though. The higher the AH, the better for your car stereo. I dont know the specifics on why, just been told that. Something to do with the reserve of the battery i think.

Ok thanks alot. How big of a alt should I use, This is my first time picking up a alt, I might be using my ford 150T or I might buy a SUV what kind of alts should I look at? How much power? I seen people run 2 alts, There stock and a HO? Should I run a stock to?

Rule of thumb: you wanna match the amps of the battery (in your case 3800) to the RMS wattage used. You want the same/more in battery power than watts, usually

I live and die by mechman alternators. Great service, 150amps output at IDLE, killer product. Other people lately have been reccomending DC? alternators, and Ohio Gen is also a good pick.

You'll be fine with a single alternator. You can try to get away with stock, but it will probably eventually die on you.

Ok thx, So the 3800 says 135 Amps does that mean I need a alt that idles more then 135Amps?? I have 2001 F150 with v8 tri. series and the alt is 160Amps. Should I look at a alt at 220 amps?? Do they make 3800's at 16 volts?

your stock alternator is 160amps? You may be able to get away with the stocker and doing the big 3. I would give that a try first.

I am going to guess you could mod the 3800 to be a 16v battery, but i wouldnt do that. In a single alternator setup, you would need to run an externally regulated alternator and/or have a stepdown module for the cars 12v electrical. For only 2500rms, it would be much easier just to run a standard 12v system.

 
The 3800's are tanks:eek:. I have 3 that i am going to run in my demo blazer:D 1 3800 will run 2500rms easy. The ah rating is to show the reserve capacity of the battery (most of the time it's in hours on min's) The more the AH rating the more amps the battery can feed per min or hour:).

3800'S DO NOT LIKE 16VOLTS, Trust me they do not take it:verymad:

 
What's that rule of thumb for alts? Is it 75 amps of alt per 1000 watts of amplifier? My memory sucks but some one knows it and can chime in I'm sure.

The beauty of Kinetik battery's is the number matches the watts recommended for the battery. I have two 1800's so in theory I am good for 3600 watts. They also have a calculator on their site.

 
if he wants 16v he can add some 2v batteries and wire them in series....
Well I think a Red top infront and a 3800 will future proof me incase I want to run 2 nightshades.. It all comes down to running a second night shade would cost a extra 1200$ Including elect upgrades. I think 2500Rms would be plenty for daily? I'm thinking about strapping 2 sundown sae 1200s on 1 Night Shade, how does that sound?

 
Def get the big 3 done. Get a smaller kinetik up front and run two of the big boys in the back. See how that goes, u mght not even need a new alt.

Also think about just gettin one amp. It's gonna be more effecient and less problems to diagnose down the road.

Well a red top is more for starting and that will be alot better, and a 3800hc in the back do you guys think i should grab another 3800 or invest into a alt?
