Question setting gains

Is it possible to set the gains using a test tone on my ipod instead of on a cd? I usually listen to my ipod or radio and not use a cd but when i use a cd my subs are a lot louder. So if i put a test tone on my ipod and set it that way would it work?

wouldnt hurt to just use one of the test tones on the forum, and burn it to a CD.... most likely be alot more accurate, dependable and clean then one from an ipod

I did set my gains using a test tone on a cd but when playing a cd the bass is a lot louder then when im using my ipod. Since i use my ipod more i was wondering if it would be ok to take the same test tone and just put it on my ipod and set the gains using my ipod.

Usually the sound quality / input level is less using the auxilary inputs. Are you sure its just the bass that is quieter or the entire output ?
