Any suggestions about getting this fixed or is it toast?

I was just driving down the road, radio was not loud, and then POP POP and smoke came out of the amp. It doesn't power up, the board has several burnt components and 3 of the MOSFETS are cracked into pieces. There appears to be no internal fuse in these things... I was running a Cap prior to the amp, but it has been wired like this and fine for 2 yrs. It is still putting out 12.5V, all the speakers are measuring ~4ohms, so they didn't appear to have shorted.

How do I get this fixed, well can it be fixed? What caused this, any ideas?

Thanks!

Brian

I would have it repaired if it were mine. $75-$100 bucks or so should be enough to get it fixed. You won't replace it for that kind of cash. There are some amp repair guys on ebay. A google search would probably turn up something as well.

I had the same thing happen to me while I was driving with my old lightning audio bold 4 ch amp.It happened exactly the way yours did except I didn't have a cap to it.I checked everything and could not pin point any potential problems.Even the 2 external 20 amp fuses didn't blow, man the whole situation had me shook. The end result was I figured since I bought it off ebay for $38 and it was a display model in a shop,I got what I paid for.lol

Thanks guys... I'll take a pic and send it to ur company. It is hard for me to pinpoint what went wrong first cause there appears to be several things toasted. I know I could not replace it for repair cost, so I will try that route first.

Here is a pic of the amp. Could you give an estimate based on the pic?
