Question Regarding Fi SSD?

Well i have a question, my brother has two 12's sealed SSD copper coils. Now they have a strong low end range very full but seem to lack the out put of higher notes. Now i don't want to say the box size is causing them to not have a high end because the box is .90 per sub sealed which is sort of small. Now is it the design of the sub? And is it a type of thing where you can only have a nice low end up give up higher notes with subs or is it possible to have both?

has any one else experienced this?

Well, its a common problem it seems. I see a lot of people who claim Fi subs are "bottom heavy". It is possible that the sub is indeed better at hitting lower notes, but I am not sure. I would suggest checking your amp settings or possibly try taking up some volume in the sealed box and retesting.

no if anything it's lack of actual effeciency. Ultimately cabin gain in a vehicle kicks in at 80hz or thereabout. Most vehicles have at least 20-30 decibels of actual gainfrom 80-40hz or so. Depending on where your specific vehicle falls in thatrange your looking at needing anwywhere between 100-1000x the power on an 80hz tone to match the same decibel reading at lower bass notes. That's why alot of sq setups use sealed subs. They roll off as the bass goes lower to help keep things more flat. A ported enclosure in many cases wont' do that. Car audio really only gets as loud as it does because of the environment your in. Look at home audio with much bigger spaces, if you can hit 140 your golden, that's with big setups costing alot of money to get output that high down to 20hz. In a car, you can do that with some midlevel subs. Expecting any sub to play midbass like it plays subbass isnt' going to happen. WHile the speaker can do it in free space, the cabin gives you too much gain up high to ever make up the difference.
