question on setting up the drz9255

hey I was just wondering when adjusting my gains should I have the volume at 0 db? or at the full +6db (8 volt output)? since somewhere I read that the deck has no clipping preouts. also do any of you guys use the time alignment on the thing? i feel like it makes it sound worse.
