question on factory wires

I have a 99 Chevy Malibu and the wires connecting to the battery are covered with a rubber boot that idk how it comes off. Like the wires go into it and then the screw goes through it into the battery. To me it also looks like it seals against the battery, like the boot has like an o-ring on it. How do these come off or how would I attach a ring terminal to them? If you want pics please let me know and ill take some.

First you unscrew the battery terminal from the battery. Than you push the screw out from the back and set the to the side. Take a pair of cutters (I usually use my klein crimpers) and cut off the rubber around the top of the battery cable to the base. Its also a lot easier if you have a longer screw terminal that can be found just about anywhere there is a car assessories section.

Go to the auto parts store, they have posts that you can stick through those boots and screw into the battery. The posts also have a small threaded end that you can bolt ring terminals too.
