Question Of the Day Do I need It?

Okay I am going to be running a alpine v12 mrvf300 4 channel amp and a Rockford Fosgate T1000-1BD which will only be pushing 350-400 watts to a 10 inch woofer. My question is I have 4 gauge wire ran do I need to upgrade to 0 gauge or will I be okay. I am trying to save all the money I can and if I can use 4 gauge and upgrade later thats great.

if you already have it installed, no its not necessary to go any bigger, if you're going to be installing it, just do 1/0, I'd guess around 90% of people who go to 4 gauge, eventually need 1/0 in the future, so might as well save the time and money and get it done right to begin with

I think you are good w/ 4 gauge up to about 1,000 watts.

I have a diamond audio amp that benches at 1836 watts @ 14.2v, and the imputs DO NOT accept anything bigger than 4 guage.

Now one thing you need to consider is the longer the wire, the less efficient the wire is going to be at transferring current.

Like if you run a 500 watt amp, but need 1000 feet of wire, 0 guage will probly not be enough, but if you need only 6", you'd probly be good w/ 10 or 12 guage.

I ran 0 from my batt. to a distribution block, then 1-2 ft of 4 guage to my amp.

You should be fine if you do not plan on runnin more than 1,000 watts.

Good deal ya i dont think I will ever put 1k watts to a sub I am a SQ guy lol.

Does someone make a dis block that is 4 in and 4 out.

Also the alpine amp does anyone know any info on it.

I have ran 0 guage to my1K amps before no problem.

+1 to all the above. If you have too much voltage drop you can always come back and run a new 4ga beside the old one. (One for each amp)

that's what i do also. i don't like wires to warm up at all, so i always overdo it.
