I own a 2000 s10 with 6.5s infinitys in the doors and infintys in 6x9 boxes in my ext cab . I bought a poweracostik amp. I wanted to know about wiring it up i bought a kit. Am i supposed to just run all the speakers directly to the amp then have rcas and remote wire going to the h/u then a ground cable , and power wire with fuse to the battery. Thats all right? i just wanted ted to knw really if i have to run the speakers to both the amp and the h/u or just the amp? thx i know im a noob but you cant learn unless you try.

run the speaker wires to the amp...rcas and remote wire to the HU....a ground to the chassis somewhere on bare metal generally the shorter the cable the better.....and a power wire fused within 18" of the battery

Welcome to the forum.

You're absolutely right...how will you know if you don't ask? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

If you're planning on running your door speakers as well as your 6x9s off of that amplifier then you won't need any speaker wires run to your head unit. Is this Power Acoustik amp a 4-channel unit?

What you'll need for the amplifier is power cable and ground cable. You will also need a lead (can be little bitty wire...doesn't need to be huge for this purpose) for your head unit to tell the amp to turn on and off when the HU turns on and off....this is commonly called a remote turn-on lead. You will also need RCA interconnect cables to carry the audio signal from your head unit to the amplifier so that the signal can be amplified before it is sent to the speakers (the entire purpose the amp serves) And finally, you will need speaker wire to carry the amplified signal from the amp to the speakers.

Here's a fairly decent tutorial video for first-time amplifier installation:

If the tone of my post seems condescending I apologize as that was not my intent. You admitted to being somewhat of a newbie to the hobby and I sometimes get in "n00b education mode" which sometimes has a tendency of seeming like I am talking down to folks (vocal inflections do not carry well online, sadly) but I assure you that is not my intention.

Good luck with the install and if you need any more advice please feel free to come back and ask!
