my dads truck, 01? ford F150 with the 5.4 V8, when i push the peddle all the way down and the rpms go up, it wont change gears for like 2secs and even if i let off the gas, it still stays reved up for a bit before it kicks into a diff. gear. so basically its really slow at changing gears

So what do you want to know whats causing the problem? Sounds like a couple different things Try adjusting your shifter linkage, that could help. Or the big possiblility is that the torque converter is slipping. Sometimes a shift kit or valve body upgrade will cure the slow shifting problem. The shift kit will adjust the shift points and make it more crisp or softer depending on what you want. But for a 2001 that doesn't seem normal unless the truck gets abused for towing or has a lot of other abuse on it.

***** is slipping. check your TC. maybe its just loose from the company...

fords have a tendency to stutter before shifting.. atleast in the 4.6 trucks i've got 3 friends with em.. and u mash the gas.. and it'll raise the r's for a second and then shift and go
