Question for people with 8's

So since getting my system completed about 3 mnths ago, as with many, I want more. Currently I am running a single Diamond D3 12" in 2.5^3 with 4" aeroport @ 35hz. I would like to go with anoother 12" D3 but do not really have the room. I thought about downsizing to dual 10" but then I saw Spy post the 3 8's in a box on the classified forum and it got me thinking. What would 4 8" Sundown E8's with each at .75^3 @ 35hz sound like. Anyone running this or know if it would be a mistake or good outcome?

Truck is a Expedition and I want to maintain the 3rd row.

there are a TON of variables that go into this, so its hard to say.

its all in the install though. I put a pair of 8" CVR's in my sisters ford escort and it was fuggin loud for a pair of 8's. A dream setup of mine is 4 E8's, but my girlfriend is only letting me put 2 in her escape //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

If you can wait a few weeks, PM me and i'll let you know how the pair of E8's do in an SUV. I think 4 8's and 2 12's will be very comparable though.

I had four E8's sealed up for awhile on a sundown sae 100d and it was plenty loud for a daily system thinking about going back to them and doing ported this time.

And hopefully you meant four at .75 each

Recommended is .6 @ 30

Yeah, .75 each. I had dabba5 design the box for the Diamond and it was a tad larger then the recommended. it sounds really good, well to me. Judging by that experience, I assumed for SPL you wanted it a little larger.

I mean ultimately I would like to run a DC lvl4, RD Sonance, AQ, Revo, ..... but really don't have the space for the amp it would require or the cubic feet.

I saw SPY's box and thought hey, I wonder. I had read of people using the 8w7 in trucks with good results.

Cut some space off.

Put 4 in 2 cubes and tune it 34 ish.

You can do the switch, i know it's fun to do, but if you are so concerned with room, and already have a box that works, why dont you just buy a different/better 12, and put more power to it? There are 12's out there that can easily get you into the mid 40's by themselves(nightshade anyone?)

I had thought of that but I figured with the increase in power and a better 12" I would also need to give up more space that I do not have. I was thinking that taking a Nightshade, DC, RD, AQ, Revo, FI, etc and placing it in a 2.5^3 wouldn't really do it justice. I would be spending the money on a new sub and amp setup that would not really function to it's potential due to limitations.

^^^^^ Seems that everybody says "its all in the install" or the box. Well that same box will perform about equally with most quality subs. UNLESS as cx said you dump some big juice to it.this was My experience last 2 years. built a quality enclosure 4 cubes plus port,64sq inches tune to 38hz for 1 15. I put 4 different 15s in that box (1 at a time of course)from a mach 5 maw to a memphis mojo an aq 2.5 and finally a kicker L5. all sounded VERY much the same on low power until I bought a punch 1000bd for the L5. WOW it was louder than I could have hoped for(didnt have any sound quality) but the power made the difference. never got it metered but surely it was atleast 6dbs louder than all the other subs on 600 watts. So if you box is nice and you got the money to spend,maybe a nightshade with 1-2k on it would be it for you. hope this helps, good luck man.

You could easily put an AQ HDC3 12' in this size box and with proper power, have it SLAM

just had a ported box built for 4 e8s.. 1.92^3 FT @ 30 hz. Going behind the rear seat of a 2007 toyota tacoma double cab.

^^^ the box looks great and is similar to what I had invisioned. Thanks everyone for the feedback, I have a better plan for what I am going to do. Personnaly, still liking the 4 E8's but I also started looking at the 12" SSA Icon, AQ mentioned above, DC lvl4, and IA Death Row. The Nightshade would have to be used, it's a little out of my price range.
